About Me

How i got here!
Hi, I’m Ailsa! I’m an artist and designer living in Manchester, England. I’ve used my creativity in various fields, from creating children’s name art to crafting birthday party stationery for my kids. Despite diverse work experience in retail, banking, and higher education administration, art remains my passion.
I grew up in a creative family – my mum is a talented watercolour artist and seamstress (she famously made my wedding dress for me!); my dad can make detailed technical drawings and come up with a solution to almost any DIY problem you can think of; my sister has a great eye for interior design; my grandma was also a seamstress and passionate gardener with an eye for the simple beauty of daisies growing in the lawn; and my grandad was a stained glass window designer, artist and painter decorator. Sitting to draw and paint quickly drowns out the craziness of everyday life and helps me to relax.
Inspired by nature and the everyday beauty around me, I love to draw animals, mythical creatures, botanicals, birds, and portraits, infusing them with vibrant colours. My style is adaptable, blending watercolour and digital mediums with a touch of experimentation. I’m always up for trying new things and pushing the boundaries of my creativity. Now, I’m focused on becoming a surface pattern designer.
Let’s create something beautiful together!
